Three weeks overdue...

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend celebrating freedom!!! :)
I know we are a bit overdue on our blog posts but we have been busy enjoying our summer!!! Two weekends ago we traveled to Oklahoma City for the Tinker Air Force Base Air Show! It was my first air show to attend and despite the extreme heat I enjoyed every minute of it! We went with a few of our friends here in Enid and met up with some other UPT students at Wichita Falls that Matt knows from AMS (his training in Alabama last fall)! It was a lot of fun watching the planes show off their capabilities and getting to see inside many of the aircrafts that these boys will be flying. Amongst the group we had a C-130, KC-130, F-16, F-15 and an A-10 pilot (Matt)!! There was a LOT of airplane talk but it was still so fun to see what they would be flying and learn more about the planes themselves! After the airshow, we all went out downtown and had such a great time socializing together! They are all really great people and I am so proud of them all for what they do for us! Here are some pictures and videos from the show:

The weekend after that, we had Matts solo party with his class. After everyone in the class has successfully completed their solo rides, they then throw a party at some ones house with the IP's. At the solo party, all of them wore a tie and the IP who checks them out for their solo tells a story (good or bad) about them and then cuts their tie depending on how well they did on their solo flight. If they didnt do well- they cut the tie at the top, if they do well- they cut the tie more towards the bottom. Sadly, the guy who checked Matt out for his flight was absent from the party and Matt didnt get his tie cut:( therefore no pictures to share... But we did have a good time celebrating with his class and spent the rest of the weekend relaxing!

This past weekend we went camping with three other couples. We rented a boat from the base and post up camp at a near by lake. Once we got set up, we all decided to take the boat out for a little ride however...... we were unable to get the boat to run properly. Luckily we had two prior enlisted crewchiefs (Matt and Russel) with us who messed around with the engine until they were able to locate the problem!! Once we detected the problem, we were able to take the boat back the next day and get the parts we needed to fix it!! Saturday, a few of us spent the day swimming in the rain as the others tended to the boat! Once the boat was fixed, we took it out on the lake and withstood the weather as much as we could and then returned to the campsite to find our tents leaking :( We decided to load up all our wet towels and drive into town to a local Laundromat to dry the towels and find out the weather forecast for the rest of the weekend! Once we arrived back to the campsite, the rain had subsided and we got a fire started and continued on with our camping trip! Sunday, the sun finally decided to come out and we spent the day in the sun on the lake and then all returned home!! Once we get pictures of our camping trip from one of the other couples we will post some of them- they got some great pics of Matt skiing!!

Well I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!! I am going to end this blog with a picture of our beautiful niece in her July 4th outfit we bought for her!!!
