A lot has changed since my last blog. I would have blogged earlier with baby progress news, however there wasn't really much to share. I hadn't really grown and hadn't noticed any new developments. There for a bit, I was beginning to worry that I dreamt it all up. And then... within a matter of 3 or 4 days I grew a ton (or what I feel is a ton)! My in-laws passed through last weekend and I think they too were shocked by my growth! I soon got requests for an updated baby bump picture so here it is: (again, its hard to take a picture of yourself with a regular camera- so I had to use my phone)
Other big news: We have a name!
Who knew that naming your child would be so hard!! I always had a few names in mind but when it really came down to it- none of those names worked out. So after a lot of name scratching, we FINALLY decided on a name!!!! Dean Otis Cooley! Dean was a name we both really liked and loved how it wasn't an unfamiliar name but it also wasn't a very common name! I have to admit, we've known for a while now that we had a first name but we have been back and forth on the middle name. We decided on Otis which is after my Papa-O (Otis Turner). Another fun note- Dean's initials will be DOC, which is what Matt calls his grandfather (James Ford). :)
I will say that I have been very surprised by how people don't think before they speak. During the naming process, I was asked several times if we had a name or what were some of the names we were thinking about.... and people just give their opinions without even being asked or realizing how rude some of the comments are. On multiple occasions I was told to not name a child certain name because they don't like it or it reminds them of something dramatic. Its hard enough trying to find a name that you don't associate with someone the two of you know, but to add opinions of others make it so much more difficult. So if you are ever speaking with someone about what they are "thinking" about naming their child- be careful and cautious of what you say!
Cheeto has found great joy in my growth! He probably thinks I grew a belly just for him! He loves laying across it! His purring seems to get Deans attention- who kicks and moves constantly. Dean has gotten much stronger lately and Cheeto is now reacting to some of his kicks. Cheeto will jump up and look around to what poked him! Its real funny to watch. Im not sure Cheeto knows what is really going on but I do believe he knows something is different. He follows me around and just watches me. If he doesnt sleep on the bed with me, he sleeps right next to the bed on the floor to watch me everytime I get up in the night. Here is a picture of him napping right next to the computer as I am looking at baby stuff online.
As you can see- he is never far away from me! Its like he was told to keep an eye on me and he is taking his job a little too seriously! Since Im talking about Cheeto, I must share another story. I decided to start gathering all my Christmas stuff and start the decorating process. Im really not a crazy person- I may be obsessed with Christmas but I usually dont decorate until after Thanksgiving!! But I decided to get a head start on Christmas since I am spending Thanksgiving in Arizona and I wont be around the next couple of weekends. Anyway, I had pulled a few items out and went to the kitchen to clean all my holiday plates and glassware when I noticed Cheeto was absent. I called and called him, shook some treats, went to all his lounging spots and still couldnt find him. I went into the back room where I laid a few xmas boxes and there he was- laying on HIS xmas stocking. Not mine or Matts but HIS! I couldnt stop laughing. If anyone loves Christmas more then me- its Cheeto. He has a small obsession with our xmas tree- which Im sure I will share more closer to Christmas! Here is how I found him *and he did not move for while.
Back to Matt and what he has been up too! He has been flying day after day after day. Many of his flights had to be aborted mid flight due to various reasons. When that happens, he has to re-fly that mission the next day for it to be considered complete so he has been extremely busy and is ready for a break in his schedule! Hopefully he will get one next week! He says the weather is beginning to get fairly chilly at night! I dont have any pictures to share from Matts training right now, but I plan to take plenty of pictures when I go to to visit him for Thanksgiving! Tucson is in Mountain standard time which is currently 2 hours behind right now but when the rest of us "fall back" and change our clocks an hour back- Matt will stay at the same time making him only an hour behind! Im real excited about this because our schedules wont be too off from one another and I will hopefully get to talk to him more!
Next week I have another doctors appointment so hopefully I will have much more to share on Dean's progress. I have purchased a crib and a stroller. Yes- I am extremely behind!!! I think I have other furniture picked out and plan to get it ordered. There is just SOO MUCH STUFF and I have been procrastinating to long! I am heading to Arkadelphia this weekend to spend time with my family and shop for some much needed maternity clothes. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!
