First Blog!!!

Welcome to Matt and Emilee’s blog “flight of our lives”! Matt and I, as you know, are newly weds who are embarking on a grand adventure together. Currently, Matt is in the process of becoming an A-10 fighter pilot for the 188th Airwing and I (Emilee) am a speech-language pathologist in Fort Smith Arkansas. With Matts training and all of his/our travels, we have decided to start a blog so that our close family and friends remain updated on our new life and experiences together! We hope to keep you updated as much as possible, but ask for your patience as we try and figure out this blogging stuff!

For our first blog, I would like to take you back a few months to give you a quick summary of our few months together as married couple:

Matt and I were married on August 29, 2009 in our home town of Arkadelphia, AR!



Our honeymoon getaway was Hawaii! We visited Honolulu for three days and Maui for four days!



Three weeks after returning from our honeymoon travels, Matt was off to his first of several trainings- AMS (Academy of military science) a.k.a. officers training. AMS was a 6 week training in Montgomery, AL. Here, Matt studied and practiced leadership roles and graduated as a second lieutenant!!



We then celebrated the holidays and enjoyed our time together and with our familys!!
The day after New Years, Matt was off again to Pueblo, CO for IFS (Initial Flight Screening) Training for 4 weeks! This training, prepared Matt with the basic flight essentials for flying!



Last weekend, I traveled with the in-laws to Enid, Ok where matt will complete UPT (undergraduate pilot training) for 13 months. Little did we know, the on-base housing is under construction and will not be available for 6-8 months after being put on a waiting list. So.... Luckily we were able to find a nice three bedroom home to rent! Here is a little snap shot of our new place in Enid, OK-


As many of you may know, Matt will be at this home in Enid permanently for 13 months and I will reside in Fort Smith three days a week to work and then four days with him in Enid! YES, we know this will be hard but we know this is temporary and we just have to go with it! Luckily we both have wonderful friends and family who keep us strong and rooted with great love!

As of tonight, my hubby is home and we (cheeto and myself) are enjoying our time with him!!
