I havent blogged much here lately because we really haven't done anything TOO exciting lately! Matt is busy finishing up his last 10 days of IFF training. He just finished the Air to Air combat portion of the training and is now working on the Air to Ground portion out on the range firing simulated bombs at targets. They even have a little game that they play using quarters. For every target, everyone pitches in a quarter and whoever gets the closest wins. The first day at the range Matt came out ahead and yesterday I think he lost a few. Today he is spending the day in academic classes, taking a test, and has two sims (simulated rides). Tomorrow he heads back out to the range again!
I have been working some during the week. When I am not working, I am usually at the pool or reading. We have been working hard at trying to close on a house. Our anticipated closing date is July 11 if everything goes smoothly. We have hit a few bumps here and there but it is our first time buying so I think its suppose to be like that, right? I keep trying to tell myself its all part of the learning experience.
Last week, Heather and I were sitting at the pool relaxing when a civilian dressed man runs and jumps the fence and then throws his sunglasses at us as he does a cannon ball (fully clothed) into the pool. At first, I was thinking to myself "this guy is in trouble" because the lifeguards typically blow their whistle at eveything and I could only imagine what kind of whistle blow he was going to get for what he just did. Then he began screaming "help" "help" and I realized we were witnessing a base exercise. So... we got to watch the lifeguards and rescue team perform their duties! I must say.... it was quite the excitement!! Here are some photos I snapped with my cell of the event! Behind the slides is the fire and rescue truck arriving to the scene!
Here are a few pictures of Matts new squadron. They are known as the 3rd squadron (or Warbirds). They have their own little building with classrooms, gym, auditorium, and bar (all requiring codes to get in). Matt and Brandon (only two in the class) are the lowest ranking so they are in charge of snacko duties. This requires them to clean and restock the bar. I typically go with him on Saturday after visiting the pool. On this particular day Heather and Russ joined us.
This is one of the tables in the bar. It is Matts favorite of course!
And this is their little grilling area right outside of the bar
Our routine is to then make a trip to the commissary and get our own groceries for the week!
We have also continued our game night traditions with Russ and Heather. We have decided to bring back some of the classics- Clue and Monopoly. I honestly forgot how fun those games! We did buy an updated monopoly game that makes the game go by MUCH faster which is kind of nice! So far Matt and I are the only Monopoly Champs!! It even comes with a trophy!!
As I said before, I hope everyone is staying nice and cool this summer. Hopefully we will have much more to share here in the coming weeks! :)

Loving the up-dates......so exciting!
